As before, each album comes with a Certificate of Authenticity; hand-signed by Annette's husband Glen Holt, and a gold foil seal affixed to the back of each LP identifying it as having been the personal property of Hollywood Legend Annette Funicello.

About the Album

Distributed under the Starview Records label in 1984, The Annette Funicello Country Album was Annette’s first solo LP release in twenty years.  The idea for the album was conceived after her first country inspired single, The Promised Land was released to radio stations the previous year.  After the single and it’s B-Side; In Between and Out of Love Again received warm reception and sufficient radio play, it was decided that a return to the recording studio was warranted to produce a full length album.  Annette packed her bags and left Los Angeles, where the first two songs had been recorded and headed to Nashville, Tennessee.  At Hot Licks Studio she completed ten additional tracks, mostly country standards, to create the finished twelve- track LP.

Annette told the press at the time that it was her first visit to Nashville and that she was unfortunately too busy to do much sightseeing.  She did however get to visit the Grand Ole Opry House and stand on the section of the stage from the old Ryman Auditorium, which is revered by so many.  She also enjoyed an Italian dinner with one of her favorite country singers, Barbara Mandrell.  While in Nashville, Annette gifted the sweatshirt she wore on the Mouseketeer’s 25th anniversary show to the Country Music Foundation archives as well as No. 1 of the Limited Edition version of her country album.

While the Annette Funicello Country Album would turn out to be her final solo release, it was not her last trip to the recording studio.  It was while doing promotion for this album that Annette first spoke of the possibility of co-producing a big screen reunion with her friend Frankie Avalon. The project she spoke of would bring a singing and dancing Annette back to theaters three years later, with the release of Back to the Beach.

Rita Rose, former president of Annette's international fan club, has compiled the personal memories and reflections of over forty individuals who are related to, have met, worked with or befriended this most likable star.  While Annette is famously remembered for being the same person in her daily life as she appears on screen, this book takes you deeper and reveals some of the lesser known dimensions of her character and personality.  Find out what it was like to encounter Annette as a fan, to be a guest in her home, to collaborate with her in the recording studio and attend to her on-set or on one of her early promotional tours in the '60s.  Some share how they first learned and reacted to the news of Annette...

A CLOSER LOOK: Bob Hope's Thanksgiving Special Promotional 33 1/3 rpm

Beginning in 1950, the legendary comedian and Hollywood personality, Bob Hope began making television specials for  NBC.  For these shows, Hope was joined by a variety of celebrity guests and other talent who performed and participated in skits consistent with the incredibly popular variety show format of the time.   Hope's specials were considered must-watch television and were a popular draw through the mid- '80s. Annette Funicello's fans across the country felt especially blessed the Thanksgiving season of 1964 when it was announced that she would be appearing on Hope's upcoming holiday special.   Annette made the appearance to promote her latest picture, Pajama Party (released November 11, 1964) and her Annette at Bikini Beach record album - which she performed two songs from on the show.  I've always found vintage promotional ephemera to be especially interesting... seeing how the creatives of entertainment chose to promote their latest offering t...
