Annette & Rose Marie

Today we pay tribute to the legendary entertainer Rose Marie, who passed one month ago today at the age of 94.  Best known for her role as Sally Rogers on the "Dick Van Dyke Show", she was also an incredible singer and  veteran of the vaudeville and Broadway stage.

Annette and Rose's paths crossed in 1978 when the two made guest appearances on "The Love Boat" in the first season episode: I'll Never Fall in Love Again. While the actresses hadn't worked together in the past, this television project reunited both women with their mutual friend and former screen partner Morey Amsterdam.  (Morey, of course, starred alongside Rose as comedy sketch writer Buddy Sorrell on the "Dick Van Dyke Show" and appeared with Annette in the first two American International "Beach" pictures as Cappy, owner of the popular teen hangout frequented by the cast in those films.) "You can imagine what rehearsals with those two were like!" Annette laughed, referring to the iconic comedy duo while discussing the episode prior to its original air date.

In 1989, Annette and Rose appeared side-by-side once more alongside other film and television personalities (including Morey Amsterdam) to celebrate the opening of Disney/MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

On behalf of Annette and all of us..."Thank You" Rose for all the fun and laughter throughout the years!  Godspeed.....

Annette Funicello: Tributes from Fans and Friends

It's simply not often enough that I have the opportunity to alert our readers of a brand new Annette related product, but finally, the long dry spell between such releases has come to an end with the book, Annette Funicello: Tributes from Fans and Friends . Rita Rose, former president of Annette's international fan club, has compiled the personal memories and reflections of over forty individuals who are related to, have met, worked with or befriended this most likable star.  While Annette is famously remembered for being the same person in her daily life as she appears on screen, this book takes you deeper and reveals some of the lesser known dimensions of her character and personality.  Find out what it was like to encounter Annette as a fan, to be a guest in her home, to collaborate with her in the recording studio and attend to her on-set or on one of her early promotional tours in the '60s.  Some share how they first learned and reacted to the news of Annette...
